⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character: Lance
Age: Mid-to-Late 20s
Canon: Pokémon
Canon Point: Post-Heartgold/SoulSilver

Background: Bulbapedia is great

Personality:
“He stands for justice! He's cool, and yet passionate! He's the greatest, Lance!"

Lance is best known for being the ultimate Dragon-type trainer. A powerful trainer with incredible skills, most people simply know him as that. An all-mighty powerhouse who is the Elite Four champion and is prepared to go against any challenger who takes him on with his own Pokemon. The ultimate in power, talent and strength. But there’s more to him than meets the eye at first glance.

Lance is a believer in justice, but it’s not always justice that can be seen. The main thing he does in Heartgold/SoulSilver is take down Team Rocket, who has taken over the Mahogany Radio Station in order to make Magikarp evolve against their will and before their time. Rather than put on a big show about it, he notices the player character, and explains the situation before heading out and taking care of business with them. There’s no big production, he doesn’t need much more than something that gives off a sense of injustice for him to go after. It’s simply going out and handling it.

There’s also not a fear of pushing away help should he need it. He doesn’t go after the problem in Mahogany Town without the player character by his side. He knows that he can’t do this alone and asks them for help. Should they refuse, he simply waits for them to come back to offer their help. It’s not because he doesn’t know how strong he is, because he does know his own strength. Rather, he would rather go with someone else who is also strong, in order to take care of an issue quickly. The problem at the Lake of Rage is urgent for him.

His confidence cannot be denied. One of his lines before battle is simply “Well, are you ready to lose?” because he is incredibly confident in his abilities. After all, at the time, he was the final member of the Elite 4, after just being removed from the champion position. Few people can compare to his abilities, in his mind, and it has everything to do with his type of choice. Dragon types are known for being tricky and powerful, hard for most trainers to handle. However, for Lance, being considered the master of the typing, he knows what he’s doing and what he’s capable of.

Part of it is due to the fact that above all else, he is kind. There’s an intimidation factor to him where he’s part of the Elite 4 and the Champion, and certainly, the fact that he takes care of one of the strongest types does not help the fact that people can find him intimidating. But beyond that, there is the kindness aspect to him where he’s more than willing to help out the trainer after they help him. As well, he has passed a test in the Dragon’s Den, which requires the ability to show kindness to Pokémon. Kindess is something that rolls through his body and when it’s time to be nice, he can be as nice as anyone.

However, Lance also falls in line with the trope “Good is not Soft” when it comes to what he does for justice. There’s a sense of willing to do whatever he needs to in order to get things taken care of. This does include using an incredibly strong move (one of the strongest, Hyper Beam) against people in order to get through and take care of what needs to be taken care of. His Pokemon, Dragonite, is also willing to slam another person away when there’s unfair battling going on. It’s his sense of justice in play, and he’s willing to take any necessary actions. However, he seems unwilling to kill, as all the people he’s attacked are just fine and living after all is said and done.

Although Lance can come off as cool, he’s incredibly hot headed and fiery when it comes to battling. Outside of it, he can speak in a calm tone, and is cool and collected. But in battle, he’s loud. He shouts how excited he is and how enjoyable he finds the battle. When he’s surprised, he’s surprised and will shout it out to anyone who can hear in battle. Like so many Pokemon trainers, battle exhilarates and excites him in ways nothing else can. This is also where his more over the top behavior comes into play. As an incredibly dramatic man, he is almost never seen without his cape flowing in the wind.

Lancer is a man who believes in justice, looking cool and acting confident. But there’s no denying that he is also a kind man who would do whatever it takes to achieve the justice is so believes in.
Abilities: Lance has no abilities except buying capes in bulk. He does, however, have some cool Pokémon who do what he needs to.

Alignment: Thras; Lance is incredibly brave, and goes into things with a sense of being brave and strong.

Other: He will be taking a select number of Pokémon with him, as seen here.

⌈ SAMPLE SECTION ⌉

There was something rather peaceful about this place. Certainly more peaceful than at home with Team Rocket causing a multitude of issues. But here… it was just simply quiet most of the time. Sure, there could be excitement, such as training his Pokémon or finding someone who could make just the right type of cape so he could rebuild his collection here. But for the most part, life was much easier here. That just made the exciting moments all the more enjoyable!

Such as one task where they were having trouble with a crook who was vandalising properties! He couldn’t just stand for that. Taking his loyal Dragonite out, they quickly found out who was doing it. Thanks to having an aerial view of it all. “Halt!” He called out, jumping from his Dragonite and landing safely on the ground with such flourish. The criminal who tried to get away was quickly apprehended when Dragonite slammed into him and kept him in place. “No more crimes for you. This is the end of the line.” Lance said, walking up and grabbing him.

Thanks to some rope he kept nearby, he was quickly able to tie up the criminal and place him back on the ground. He smirked, holding the Poke ball in his hand. “Make sure you don’t do it again.” A tap and his Pokémon returned back to him.” A sense of pride washed over him as he began to leave the street where they had found him. His steps were followed with the roads being cleaned once again and grass growing near the edge of the street. A cool light breeze floated through and the sun was shining even brighter than before.

“Now.” Pulling out the list he had made before leaving the task board. “What shall we do next?”
